Work out the stake, return and profit of singles, doubles, trebles and the full-cover system bets: Trixie, Patent, Yankee, Lucky 15, Lucky 31, Lucky 63, Canadian, Heinz, Super Heinz and Goliath, with or without each-way. Enter fractional or decimal odds, mark each selection won, placed, lost or void and set your stake in pounds. Nothing is stored and nothing is sent anywhere.
What each bet type covers
A system bet is a set of separate bets built from your selections, so you can get a return without every selection winning. The price is more bets, so a bigger total stake. A single is one selection, a double two that must both win, and a treble three.
- Trixie (3 selections, 4 bets)
- Three doubles and one treble. You need two winners to get a return.
- Patent (3 selections, 7 bets)
- Three singles, three doubles and a treble. One winner is enough for a return.
- Yankee (4 selections, 11 bets)
- Six doubles, four trebles and a four-fold. At least two winners are needed.
- Lucky 15 (4 selections, 15 bets)
- A Yankee plus four singles, so one winner returns something.
- Canadian / Super Yankee (5 selections, 26 bets)
- Ten doubles, ten trebles, five four-folds and a five-fold.
- Lucky 31 (5 selections, 31 bets)
- A Canadian plus five singles.
- Heinz (6 selections, 57 bets)
- Fifteen doubles, twenty trebles, fifteen four-folds, six five-folds and a six-fold.
- Lucky 63 (6 selections, 63 bets)
- A Heinz plus six singles.
- Super Heinz (7 selections, 120 bets) and Goliath (8 selections, 247 bets)
- The same idea with seven and eight selections: every possible multiple from doubles upwards.
Each-way, in brief
Switch on each-way and every line doubles into a win bet and a place bet. Choose the place terms your bookmaker offers (1/4 or 1/5 of the odds) and mark a selection Placed if it finished in the places without winning. Each-way multiples work the same way: the win parts need every selection to win, the place parts need every selection to win or place.
What the calculator leaves out
Only the standard maths is modelled. Bookmaker Lucky bonuses, consolations, boosts, dead heats and Rule 4 deductions are not, so treat the result as a close guide and check your slip. Need to switch odds format? Use the odds converter. For a single accumulator see the acca calculator.
More bets does not mean better odds of winning: every line still carries the bookmaker's margin, and a system that stakes more can lose more. Probabilities, not guarantees.
Bet calculator FAQ
- How does a Lucky 15 work?
- A Lucky 15 is 15 bets on four selections: four singles, six doubles, four trebles and one four-fold. With a £1 stake per line you stake £15 in total. One winner at 2/1 returns £3 (the single) and nothing else; four winners at evens return £80 in total, because every line wins. Many bookmakers add a bonus for one winner or all four winners, which this calculator does not include.
- How much does a Yankee return if all four selections win?
- At evens (2.00) with a £1 line stake, a Yankee stakes £11 and returns £72: the six doubles pay £4 each (£24), the four trebles pay £8 each (£32) and the four-fold pays £16. Profit is £61. With longer odds the multiples grow quickly, which is also why a single loser removes so many of the lines.
- How does each-way work?
- An each-way bet is two bets of equal stake: one on the selection to win and one to place. If it wins, both parts pay (the place part at a fraction of the odds, usually 1/4 or 1/5). If it only places, the win part loses and the place part pays. A £10 each-way bet costs £20. On a 5/1 selection at 1/4 odds a place pays 1 + 5 x 1/4 = 2.25 times the stake, so £22.50 back, a £2.50 profit.
- What happens to a void selection in a system bet?
- A void selection, such as a postponed match or a non-runner, counts as odds of 1. Any bet containing it carries on with the remaining selections, so a double becomes a single and a single simply returns its stake. The number of bets staked does not change.
- Should I enter the stake per line or the total stake?
- Bookmakers ask for the stake per line, so a £1 Yankee costs £11. If you know how much you want to spend overall, choose Total stake and the calculator divides it across the bets. A £22 total on a Yankee is £2 a line.
- Does this bet calculator include Lucky 15 bonuses or Rule 4?
- No. Bookmaker-specific Lucky 15, 31 and 63 bonuses, consolations, boosts and Rule 4 deductions all differ between firms, so they are left out. Use it for the standard maths and check your bookmaker's slip for the exact payout.
